Nothing works !

I must admit, I am quite skeptical about almost everything and when I first heard about Zen Counselling, I was quite skeptical.

I mean, how simple listening and no suggestion - solve someone's problem. But my view is slowly changing. It happened recently that one of my friend was facing some problem and she got to know about zen counselling and that I am a zen counsellor so she asked to do a session with her.

It kept getting postponed for months because she was in another city far away from where I was. She can't come and I couldn't go. One day, I met her online and she looked upset and asked me again about the session, I said ok lets do an online session. An online zen counselling session ? Man, I myself was too skeptical about it and it just looked yet another spoof like those millions of fake online scams. But , being a friend - I wanted to extend my help as much as I can.

I thought, lets just give it a shot.

We started chatting online, she began to speak up the problem. I followed the same principles of Zencounselling - that is being patient, asking questions and listening. She went on for a good 30-40 mins and then suddenly she said - I guess I know what I am supposed to do.
She got the solution. I was taken aback. I did absolutely nothing.
She started thanking me and inside I knew , that I have done nothing.
But that's the beauty of Zen, - doing nothing - everything is happening.

Now, I am exploring the idea of online and telephonic zen counselling.
It is quite amazing to know how nothing actually works.

New Website Alias

Friends,

www.zencounselling.in is also accessible now by www.zencounselling.org to give it more global look. This website is for everyone and not restricted to India.
We will soon have more Zen counsellors from around the world and more visitors from across the globe.

The website is slowly being updated and improved. Please help us make this website better and send us your feedbacks.

One problem we are facing is spelling of Counselling/ Counseling , the difference in spelling is making a lot of users miss our website. Google doesn't show our website for zen counseling (single "l" but only for double "l" ) .

The web team is trying to find a way out. Wish you all a happy and peaceful life.

Can someone else really solve our problems ?

It is almost taken for granted that our problems can be solved by others. That is why we have all kinds of books, all kinds gurus and all kinds practices. The question for the intelligent mind is " Can someone other really solve our problems ? "

Let us not rush or allow old beliefs to come in. Let's begin a fresh inquiry.

Do we really understand our problems very clearly ? Do we see them directly ?
If yes, then is it possible to spot a solution ?
If no, then how can we expect anyone else to come even close to our understanding.

Try to define what you mean by love and then try to explain it to others. It'll be almost impossible to convey the exact meaning. This is natural because each one of us has his/her own way of thinking and reacting which is not independent. We are conditioned through our upbringing and experiences to behave or think in a way. It is close to impossible to understand others, in true sense.

Without proper understanding of problem, how can other or ourselves solve it ?

What is a problem ?

We are often complaining that our lives are full of problems but have we ever questioned what is a problem ?

I remember a beautiful story where a man asks a Zen Master, my mind is full of problems, confusions and conflicts, Help me !
Zen Master says, show me where is your mind and I'll help ! The man looked inside and found there is no mind ! It is like an illusion.

A problem is an illusion. A problem is a problem only if we think it is a problem.
Have you seen how different people have different problems and same problem may not be a problem at all for some other person.

Just pick up any problem, investigate and you'll know there exist no problems.
But the problem is , we still have problems ! Phew... !

Noone needs counselling...

I think Counselling is pure business. In the name of all kinds of therapies , groups and methods -a big industry of counsellors, psycotherapist, psycologists , is flourishing. ( with all due respect ).
I think no one needs counselling if only we can gather the courage to look at our problems and learn the art of relaxing.

What happens when you do a particular therapy or group ? You are just trying to neglect and forget the problems of life for soemtime and you feel good for few days. Very soon, the problem appears again. It makes no difference in long run.

In long run, in reality the only way of solving the problem is to look at them directly. Find out the roots. Thinking only will not help but only confuse further. Right observation as Buddha says or "Observation without judgements" as J. Krishnamurthy says can be the right way.

Noone needs counselling, we only need insight and courage.

Greatest victory of Zen Counselling will be when no one needs it anymore !
